 That is Why I Teach Music

Not because I expect you to major in music.
Not because I expect you to play or sing all your life.
Not so you can relax or have fun.
But
So you will be human.
So you will recognize beauty.
So you will be sensitive.
So you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world.
So you will have something to cling to.
So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good...
in short, more life.
Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless you know how to live?

為此，我敎你音樂

 並非希望你主修音樂

並非希望你彈奏或演唱終其一生

也非因此你能得到放鬆或樂趣

而是

因此 你可以稱之為人

因此 你理解何謂美

因此 你變敏銳感性

因此 你能超越這個世界更接近永恆

因此 你能有所倚靠

因此 你能有多點愛，多點同情憐憫，多點體貼，多點善

簡而言之，多點生命。

豐盛的生活其價值何在，除非你知道如何活出生命
